Something handmade at last....

A sweet little pattern by Crow's Roost Prims. I didn't put arms on them or the stars that she used but I put a scrap of hair, used oil pencils for color and some old buttons for eyes.

Rene's patterns are easy to make. You can find her here. Happy Thursday y'all.

Got Milkweed?????

I sure do and so do my neighbors because of me. I didn't know until this year how sweet it smells but it sure is prolific. However, it is easy to pull up and the butterflies and bees like it a lot.

PJ bought the slate sign for me at the Trenton Garden Walk. Happy Wednesday evening to all.

Breakfast from the garden...

"My grandmother brings herself a sausage biscuit and the good stuff for me. And a USA Today paper that we are learning to browse. I can identify all the sports pictures (except hockey) and we are going to work on the big map of the USA next to see where all of you live.

I wasn't real sure about the peas. Decided to just eat the inside. Gracie didn't like the pods either but my Aunt Lisa does."

The Strawberry Patch fun.....

Thursday was the first day of Kynda's visit with us. But I don't have a picture of her helping pick. There was some discussion about eating while picking.

Joy helps P. J. with all the chores. She likes green beans and carrots but not strawberries. Rosie likes hostas.

The first time to pick for John Michael.

I have lots of pictures from the Trenton Garden Walk and Proven Winners Gardens and maybe some of us. We had such a good weekend.

And now I will say goodnight, I am off for another garden tour. If you would like to go along click here.

Sassy Art Dolls

These dolls are made by an artist at the Town Peddler; she is just down the aisle from my booth. I did not pose them for this picture, I just passed by and started to laugh.

The haughty ladies with the cigarettes are being given the what-for by the doll in the blue dress. I thought it would give you a laugh.

We are anxiously waiting for Kynda's plane tomorrow, we will be so glad to see her. She couldn't get an Amtrak ticket so she is flying and won't have as much time to read. But we will have more time together. We will be going to the Trenton Quilt and Garden Walk on Saturday and lots of sitting on PJ's porch this weekend. I will have pictures for next week. We may have strawberry shortcake too.

Town Peddler is also having their outdoor mart with vendors. It was really good last year, if you are in the area, stop by.

Earnest Markham

My very first post was "The best clematis have men's names", so when it blooms it is my blogging anniversary.
Happy Saturday to all.

My green roof pictures...

Ford Motor Company has nothing on me, I have a green roof too....

Jacob and Jordan's little plastic playhouse is my storage for garden stuff.

The wire is temporary until the plants get established. I don't have a base for them, just clumps of dirt.

It's been fun, some thought I would never get around to finishing it. Look for the big black wire spiders in the last picture. Barb gave me these, they help to hold the plants in place.

Happy Thursday everyone, thank you for all your comments to this obsessive gardener. And I am thankful for the rain during the night.

Garden Awards

It would be a tie if I were giving awards for June flowers. These are foxgloves, which I do absolutely nothing for, they must love me.

And the Beverly Sills iris didn't ask for anything either.

I will need to divide them in the fall. Come over and I will dig some up for you.

Everyone is talking about the heat now, the weather is just bizarre. It will be interesting to see what the garden plants think about it. Happy Wednesday.

Strawberry Season

Last year I ate strawberries very slowly, stopping to look at how beautiful they were, all red and juicy.....

This year I crammed them in and Gramma Peggy could hardly get a picture of even one. Just look how I've grown...

I hope you have home-grown strawberries at your house.

Havagoda..

Graduation was yesterday. This is Rebecca making her speech and she did super. It was such a sweet and happy day.

A reminder to you all that I am still working along with the gardening. PJ found an old tattered hymn book at a sale....

And this is my therapy frog that I have coffee with every morning. He said, when do I get to be on the blog? So here is he, his expression will match any feeling that you have... His eyes are amazing. Don't ever tell him he is just a plastic frog.

The Havagoda is a word from the graduation speaker. You can figure it out, she said that she said it to her students every morning.

Another sentence I wanted to remember from another speaker also. A Don Swartz quote (thank you PJ for looking it up)...

"No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care."

My rose

My annual picture of the old rose that blooms in a vacant lot near me. I call it mine because I appreciate it so much and it has given me cuttings for my own yard.

Daily bread now will be with strawberries! Isn't that a blessing!

And today is Rebecca's graduation ceremony. What she will speak about, we haven't heard, but I'm going to love it.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Rebecca's Awards...

We are so proud of you Rebecca, all your hard work , long nights of study and homework, have paid off.

Some of Becca's awards, not shown are her scholarships --woohoo!!!
Receiving the Math Award....can you believe it, math!!!

and pictures with friends.

I'm sure they told us that over half a million dollars were awarded in scholarships. A record for the class.

Many of the graduates are going to Michigan colleges; some of them are going to the Army, Navy and Marines and some are entering the challenging world of work. As a grandmother I know where our future lies and I am so proud of every one of them.

Love to all from Gramma Peggy. Go Becca!!!

Maxwell's Art and Treasures (the Outside)

Today when I was taking my car to the shop, I passed right by Maxwell's. So I stopped to take some pictures outside (they are only open weekends).

It is a most unusual place. My favorite was the little green table and chairs. Anything lime green. They have a website now and have some interesting events listed. And they are adding a garden also.

I kinda liked the big black dog too. Happy June first.
