Bilbo Baggins

We went to see The Hobbit this week.  Although it was almost three hours, it didn't seem that long.  Jeff didn't realize it was "to be continued" in the next movie (s) but we liked it.  My favorite part was the rescue by the giant birds.  PJ said the hairy feet were interesting. I also liked the elves.

If you haven't seen it, Bilbo (The Hobbit) didn't want to leave his cozy home to go with the dwarfs on  any "adventure".  Sometimes you do what you gotta do.

If you want to find your hobbit name go here.

Mine is Zelda Sandybanks of Frogmorton.

Stella's banner

I made a banner for Stella's party tomorrow.  I thought she could save it for Valentine's Day.
She will be 100 on January 28th but her party is tomorrow!!!

I've been working on the picture on picmonkey but I am not good at correcting what need to be corrected (like the round corners).  I did get the writing to go in though.

A Happy Saturday to you, stay warm.

Open Heart

"
"Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when he was deported to Auschwitz. After the war he became a journalist and writer in Paris, and since then has written more than fifty books, both fiction and nonfiction. His masterwork, Night, was a major best seller when it was republished recently in a new English translation. Wiesel has been awarded the United States Congressional Gold Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the French Legion of Honor’s Grand Cross, an honorary knighthood of the British Empire and, in 1986, the Nobel Peace Prize. Since 1976 he has been the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University. "

A really short book I was able to read waiting for my eye doctor, Dr. Yu, who really is worth the wait.  I always tell him to slow down just a little bit, the work will still be there.  I picked up the book at my library .  Elie Wiesel is 82 and writes this book about his surgery and his thoughts during that time about his family and his life's journey.  It is very interesting.  Most everyone has read "Night", have you?

A beautiful sunny day in Michigan, quite cold but somehow it isn't so bad when the sun shines and the sky is blue.  We are thankful that Jeff now has his bionic shoulder and was able to go home today!  Joy and Rosie, the golden girls, went home too and I will miss them even though they take up most of my living room space.  Happy Thursday all.

Winter flower...

The ice and snow are melting and we are heading for some warmer weather here in Michigan.
The only flower I could find today was the kale, which has been covered over with snow and seems to be no worse for the wear.

an indoor flower made from a yo-yo and old quilt block.  Wishing you good things this Wednesday.

The Wait is Over...(almost).....

CBS This Morning reports that unless you have been under a rock somewhere, you are impatiently waiting the return of Downton Abbey  Tomorrow Sunday on Masterpiece Theatre on PBS.

It will be really interesting to see what madness Shirley MacLaine will add to the story .  I can't imagine she will be a match for Maggie Smith, how could anyone...

I read that someone wrote that watching the show is like watching a play, only better,  and that every person in the Downton Abbey picture has a story plot.   I caught up with it when Laura, our librarian, said I should watch it.  I can't believe I missed the first season, I must have been under that rock they talked about.

I hope your Saturday was good and you are looking forward to church and Downton Abbey tomorrow.
