Shirley's sister, the price of gas and Ecclesiastes

Today we are going junkin' in Wyandotte!! In the rain, of course, lots of it this week.
But we are fortunate and storms have not been severe like other places.

My cousin says that Paducah has the worst flooding since the 1937 flood. That was the big one and my Dad always said there were two disasters in the early thirties and he always got the dates confused. (The other was my birthday.) Of course he was kidding, he was a hoot!

I always think of him when I buy gas for the car. His business was selling Ashland gas at 26th and Broadway in Paducah. He checked your oil and tires, cleaned your windshield and pumped your gas for 25 cents a gallon.

Yesterday I bought gas for only 3.89. This morning I read this verse from Ecclesiastes 7:10: "Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions."

Happy Wednesday to all my friends.

Things we know.....

Some things are meant to bloom, in spite of this week's snow, sleet and cold rain.

"But I am like an olive tree,
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God's unfailing love
for ever and ever."

Psalms 52:8

"How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord."

Psalm 116: verse 12 and 13

Praying the Psalms

Give me back the joy of your salvation
Keep me strong by giving me a willing spirit

Psalm 51:12

This is a verse that Pam has chosen to focus on this Easter week. Some of you are praying the psalms and I am joining in.

Visit onyama here.

I am content with the weather that has been sent our way on this Monday morning, there are beautiful little yellow birds outside in the forsythia. If they don't like the snow, they aren't saying and I'm not either. I am sad for those who have been so devastated by the tornados. A little snow is nothing.

I have some new pictures for this week, come back and visit again. Let us know if you will be praying the psalms.

How Do Daffodils Know It's Spring?

Maybe when the little ones come out to play in the yard???
Or the big forsythia sends an email????
Doug Green says they wear tiny wrist watches. Look on the stems for them. I enjoy his garden site, www.simplegiftsfarm.com.

A cold wind is blowing this morning in Michigan but the sun is shining. My son Mike is having yet another back surgery today, so any little prayer you can send up is much appreciated.

Thank you for visiting my plot this morning.

The Tennessee Ridge pattern has a little rabbit with it, but I had this heart to use from an old dresser scarf.

My garden report is that the squirrels dug up and ate my St. Patrick day peas so I have to replant. Charlie helped me trim the butterfly bushes yesterday, they are worth the effort when all the butterflies come to them. Happy Friday everyone.

Rabbit in Blue

I shouldn't have taken the time to finish her this morning, as the sun has decided to go elsewhere, and I had plans to work outside. But I was anxious to finish her up. I see a little here and there that needs to be tweaked but I liked her.

The body i s made from a Tennessee Ridge pattern and I went from there, not so primitive but that seems to be how my things turn out.

Happy Friday everyone.
