The Naming

For now I am referring to these as "flower faces".  I had an old scrap of someone's work using these points and I wanted to learn to use them also.    They could be "happy flowers"  or "just plain weird" flowers.

I have a name for the cold that has come to live with me.  It is "I got you and won't let go". And just to make me feel worse, beautiful sunshine for you who can go places.  I am stuck here for now with the MUSINEX ugly guy from the commercials.

Hope you are good!

Another silly rabbit.

He thinks he's hot.

Another Pat Beam design, she is such a favorite with me.

Snowing this morning in Michigan, how 'bout yourself?

Reading is good.

I put in a request for this one and only one library had it on order on CD.  Chris Cleave wrote "Little Bee".
This one I have and want to save until I can go straight through it.  It isn't too long but I liked The Burgess Boys and loved Olive Kittridge by Elizabeth Strout.

I braved the cold and went to Aldi's this morning, I call Aldi's my "ordinary folks Trader Joe's".  I guess everyone is experiencing cold weather now, maybe we commented too much on the mild winter.  Stay warm anyway.

Amaryllis

Lots of flowers are one the blogs today reminded me that I didn't show anyone my amaryllis that Rachel gave me for Christmas.  It didn't quite make it until Valentine's Day but as promised on the tag, in six weeks after starting it, I had a bloom.

We followed the directions that came with it but it soon began to smell.  So I called our family florist advisor Kynda and found that the water level was too high on the bulb and it was beginning to rot.  So I cleaned it up and replaced the water at the right level and all was well.

My grandmother always had these indoors during the winter altho hers were planted in pots.  She must have put them outside in the summer, flowers were scarce in those days so any we had were treated with great care.

So don't be afraid to try one next year, they were lots for sale at the craft stores around Christmas.  It was fun to watch it grow.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Rusty Thimble Giveaway

You will probably want to enter Brenda's giveaway.  I am a fan of Rusty Thimble!

We are having a small snow this morning, now we don't feel so left out.  I think it was sent to us by Vee in Springfield, Illinois.  She had a birthday yesterday and we talked on the phone.  It was snowing there yesterday.  I asked her what she has been doing lately and she says she is "coloring" and some of her friends and family are also. I have to admit I am tempted when I see the coloring books at Joann's.

I watched the last of "War and Peace" last night.  Did anyone watch?

Rabbits are back (already)

At Town Peddler on Sunday, January 31, inside the front door there are a host of bunnies.  Guess it is time to make some if you feel inclined.
I made this one yesterday, she is interesting because I made her from a pattern I have had since 1987, so she is an oldie for sure.  I also used  2 old hankies plus half of another to make her clothes.

I would like her skirt a little fuller but couldn't manipulate it.  I try not to waste anything, especially vintage and old-and-loved stuff.

We had a white frost this morning but I am so glad we have had an abundance of sunshine this winter.  Yesterday I could have done some gardening but instead I made a rabbit.
