New Flower Badges

Two of PJ's new flowers to go on work badges.  I took these to Town Peddler but sneaked one of the minions out for myself to wear.  And my new doll, she has earrings.

Christmas Dress by Emma

My mother Emma and my grandmother Altie, both had April birthdays and while I was sewing I was thinking about them and thinking I would like to show a bit of my mother's work.

I don't have anything crafty from my grandmother.  She didn't sew much but gardened and cooked and we all ate up her lovely creations.  She also prayed and prayed and read her Bible and told us all what to do.

After my mother moved to Michigan and we were doing craft shows all over, she sewed dresses for Jackie and me.  I would drop off the cut-out clothes and almost before I got home, she would have them finished.
(I only lived four blocks away.)

She died in 1996 of COPD and she was 84 years old.  She is buried in Graves County, Kentucky, her home.

Recently Jackie had asked me to make a doll that would fit all these left-over Christmas dresses.  I didn't come up with anything new but one of my angels fits nicely.  Jackie will probably change the hair and the face to suit her style but once again my mothers dresses will get to go to the craft mall or a show. and that will make us happy.

I pass my mother's little cottage house almost every day and think of her.  I always wish I could stop in.
Thankfully, the little house was bought by a lady who appreciated everything about it and she has kept it
quaint and sweet as it always was.  The dogwood outside the back door will bloom soon, I am waiting for it.

Embroidery designs by Barb

As you probably know, PJ makes her flower badges for the nurses at UM hospital.  Last night she  made covered buttons using these ribbon designs. Adelaides Corner was so nice to work with us and embroider these for her to use.  She has given us a lot of her time working with us and they are exactly what was needed.

Visit her blog at Adelaides Corner and on etsy.com.
PJ will soon have some new flower badges for her co-workers.

A Mother's Day craft for kids....

This is a craft for my Living Water Kids if they like it.
You can see the design on apumpkinandaprincess.com.

I used a little can from Walker's fancy feast cat food, printed out her little sign, a popsicle stick, a T. of dirt and a little "chicken" from my yard.  Tucked in a little moss.  Easy and inexpensive.

While I was doing it I was thinking we could do a teacher one that says Thanks for helping me LEARN.

Thank you apumpkinandaprincess.com for the idea!

and thanks everyone for liking our buttons on my Friday post.

These are our buttons, PJ found the buttons and I made the cards.
I liked this beautiful chalkboard in the antiques alley section.
A little blue flower from us...
I hadn't noticed these before, clever and cute!
 Love the veggie sign.
and this booth I hadn't seen before.  It's called Tables, Chairs, Tables.  So colorful!

See you there sometime!!

Books

Just finished this one instead of TV last night.  About a family in Alaska, a new best-seller, a good story but turned a little too romancy for me.
This one will always be one of my favorites.  When first I looked at it, I said ugh, it's about a truck driver.
I am so glad I read it, and yes, there was a little romance.  Really, good book.
I listened to this audio book while I was sewing..  The reader's voice was really gruff but I got used to it. If you like surprises at the end this one has it.

Happy Day!
