Tomorrow Night Poldark....

Have you watched Poldark on PBS?  Tomorrow night at 8 our time.  Beautiful scenery ummm, and a good story.

Pray for Tonya Turvold, she and her friends are in a terrible flood.  She has designed beautiful patterns for us.  She has had a really bad year.  You might know her from Back Porch Pickins.

Something from the woods...

I love sticks and rocks and anything from the woods.  My son, Ray is out there a lot hunting and cutting wood, looking for mushrooms.  He is lucky to have his very own woods.  He surprised me with this piece of bark saying I thought you could make a craft.

This week I filled it with some yarrow that I had dried and some solidago fireworks that I have tried to preserve with glycerin.  I like it and even more I like it that he thought I would!!  And today is his birthday, so Happy Birthday Ray.

Hello

Botanical Interests (my favorite seeds) had a photo contest.  The winner is Amy Molly.

These are the Friday flowers.  I am using Jillee's recipe for homemade flower food. 1 t. sugar, 1 t. bleach, 2 t. lemon juice and a quart of lukewarm water.  It seems to be doing the job.

Made this pumpkin woman up this week and used some of my dried stuff and some of my old doilies.  I had a pumpkin stem left over from last year (dried).  She may need to consider a low-carb diet.  She should check with www.canadagarden.blogspot.com.

Have a beautiful weekend all.

Britt-Marie Was Here

I think Fredrik Backman may be my new favorite author.  After reading A Man Called Ove and this one and have one waiting called My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry.

As I was reading Britt-Marie I couldn't stop thinking what a great movie it would be, providing an actress could be found that would  measure up to it.  Maybe Meryl?  If you read it I'd be interested to know what you think.

Happy Monday, beautiful day in Michigan.

Booth display, clever...
Look at these critters, old graters....
my favorite , old clock box
I liked this also.  There are lots of sales this week.
a doll house if you have room for it....
ain't it so.....
 I always visit here
and this was a flower bed outside Scotty's Fish and Chips. Zoom  to see those daisies with the purple centers.

There's an outdoor mart tomorrow.  I hope the weather is good.  And I took a few bunches of sweet annie for my booth to make it smell like Greenfield Village.

Sweet Annie

I have always wanted to grow Sweet Annie and preserve some for crafts.  However, it doesn't seem to be working too well for me.

First for several years I tried to grow it from seed and it wouldn't come up.  Kynda and Gail from The Farm would say "It's just a weed!" .  Finally Kynda sent me a plant UPS and now I have a good "stand" of it.

So I went online and tried to preserve some.  I think it is a failure for sure.  I did the glycerin and hot water and put about three or four inches in each jar on Sept. 3.  It looks really sad so if you all know what I did wrong, please comment.

Otherwise things are fine on Fleming Street, we had buckets and buckets of rain yesterday and a power outage during the night.  But not as bad as some and no flooding.  I hope you got rain if you needed it.
