My scanner doesn't work anymore (never did really) so I made these with my camera, not so good, but will do, you can get the idea. Tax day was my grandmother' s birthday. She was born in 1888 in Missouri. These were made in Kentucky after her marriage to my granddad. She's on the far left in the second picture. I declare I never saw her show that much attitude, ever.
Back then, you didn't have to beg people to be in a picture, but they never really smiled most times.
Mammy was big on writing notes. I carry one in my purse that she wrote on a small card. It has a verse from Joshua 1:9, and then she added, "read your Bible daily and talk with God. He is always there to guide you if only you ask believing and give Him humble thanks."
