Love Lies Bleeding....

My flowers have survived the heat for the most part. I have had this plant before but it was a much darker red. It is growing in a bushel basket partially buried in the ground and tied to the gate as the blooms get very heavy.

I've had a good day and I hope you all did also.

My Skillet Garden....

Life after fried chicken for these two skillets. Speaking of chicken, PJ made us some bar-b-que on the grill and used "Sticky Fingers" sauce. It was really good.

Love in a Mist...

I planted this from seed last year, decided it was puny and I didn't like it. I thought I pulled it up but this is it the second year. I guess sometimes it takes two years for some things to get growing. What an intricate flower it is.

This is ye olde watering hole at the plot. Max prefers it to a dish. A soft rain this morning that I am thankful for. Happy Monday.

Strawberry Spinach.....

This plant is about 18 inches tall now and bushy. I planted it from seed last year and it was pretty pitiful, I almost did away with it. This year it is really nice and an unusual flower. You can eat the leaves but why would you?

Who wouldn't stop here?.......

A garage sale at this place! And they had a big woods with trails and she had a studio of her very own. In addition to some little doo-dads I picked up......

this photograph framed in the most beautiful color of blue, turquoise I think. I have a fascination with old doors and windows and I know I am not alone in this...

Thanks for all your comments on my Sunday flowers, I wish I could do that every Sunday morning all year. I always think to myself "If you think God doesn't love you, just look at the flowers He sent you!".

And Kynda, I am not a floral designer, I just copy off of you. I love you all this Tuesday morning, be happy.

Gail's Zinnias

Gail is my next door neighbor and this is the second year she has had zinnias along the side of the house.

She just collects the seeds and scatters them in May.

I have to say I have been sneaking over and cutting a few. Zinnias are so beautiful this time of year. And I think I will try her method next year. Happy Saturday evening.

Pretty Much Picasso....

About two weeks ago this was a straggly petunia with no blooms. I gave it a buzz cut and a dose of plant food and here it is, prettier than ever.

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes for Jeff and his surgery. He is doing fine and home the same day.

I made salsa today and my recipe is on the blog if you use the search. I listened to "The Postmistress" on CD while I worked. I would rather actually read but haven't figured out how to read and use my hands at the same time. Happy Wednesday.

Goldy Honey Bear Sunflower....

It seems to get bigger and brighter every day. It is larger than the "Teddy Bear" variety, flowers are nearly pollenless and it has a stalk as large as a hoe-handle so it doesn't fall over. I love it.

I bought these seed at English Gardens but you can look for them online. I also have some in pots that are beautiful also but a little smaller plant.

I'm cleaning up my garden now, it has been a strange year (my green beans took 90 days) and some things died out early in spite of a lot of rain. The squirrels are eating the best of my tomatoes since I didn't plant them any corn. Flowers are at their best, zinnias, sunflowers, four o'clocks and cosmos. How's your garden?

Jeff has his day planned with some knee surgery. We are counting on it going well and it helping him. A beautiful Tuesday to you.

(And thanks everyone for being on the look-out for my missing gnome!)

Earnest Markham

My very first post was "The best clematis have men's names", so when it blooms it is my blogging anniversary.
Happy Saturday to all.

Garden Awards

It would be a tie if I were giving awards for June flowers. These are foxgloves, which I do absolutely nothing for, they must love me.

And the Beverly Sills iris didn't ask for anything either.

I will need to divide them in the fall. Come over and I will dig some up for you.

Everyone is talking about the heat now, the weather is just bizarre. It will be interesting to see what the garden plants think about it. Happy Wednesday.

My rose

My annual picture of the old rose that blooms in a vacant lot near me. I call it mine because I appreciate it so much and it has given me cuttings for my own yard.

Daily bread now will be with strawberries! Isn't that a blessing!

And today is Rebecca's graduation ceremony. What she will speak about, we haven't heard, but I'm going to love it.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Flowers from Vivianos

Saturday we did a florist shop hop. We added a visit to Christine's bakery in Shelby Township. This is a shortbread cookie that thinks it's a candy corn.

Sunflowers

This one is Del Toro, I ordered these seeds from Pinetree Seeds, where you can get small amounts for a dollar and change. They were kinda slow but all the seeds were good and I will order from them again.

PJ likes this one, it is called Lemon Aura, also from Pinetree Seeds. It's not really big but the color is so pretty.

Speaking of pretty, if you like plants and you are not looking at Kynda's blog, you must see the pictures from the Bank of Springfield. Go to www.canadagarden.blogspot.com or
www.gardensbos.blogspot.com. Don't miss them!!!
