Crochet for Diabetes

My friend Neen crochets sweet little baby shoes and crowns that I sell for her at my booth at Town Peddler. She also raffles an afgan at family reunions which also helps out her fund.

At the end of the year, her whole family participates in the annual Walk for Diabetes .Last year our fund was $500 and we were really proud.   Several in her family have diabetes and she has lost a grandson to this terrible illness.  I also have many friends who  struggle with it.

The pictures of the little baby dress is her latest contribution.  It came to her from a dear friend and it belonged to her mother. You can see her name and date on the cute little tag.  I will be taking it to Town Peddler soon but have delayed because of showing it to everyone. It has some stains along the hemline from age but it is just so pretty.  The little buttons and hand embroidery and the lace on the bonnet are just perfect.  I know that Alma would love seeing her mother's dress on the internet. Alma  was a loving friend to Neen.

I was thinking I would have loved to have a picture of baby Mildred  in her dress and bonnet.  I'm also thinking it will be hard to part with.

We have had a windy, windy March 1st.  It did come in like a lion.  Love from Michigan.

What an awesome idea. Hope everything sells out! I have diabetes myself, and it is hard not eating the things I like now...chocolate for the most part. Janice

What a precious keepsake and a wonderful gift to donate to a great cause.

That is a worthy charity and so nice of your friend to donate time and treasures to it. It was a windy start here so I guess March did come in like a lion. Hopefully it will go out like a lamb. But I do remember times when it started and ended in much the same way.

Yes, that would be hard to part with....such a beautiful gown and bonnet. But a worthy cause, yes. My husband has diabetes...so I know the struggles well. March came in here with freezing rain, followed by snow and howling winds.... Can't we fast forward to spring please? Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
