Sitting on the porch

What a nice day today, I mowed the leaves and moved some things in the garden and brought these girls out on the porch for some air. I hope you had a nice day too.

All Together at the Town Peddler

Everyone got picked to go except the mice and the little angels and the new Santa. I had to take out my cute little chairs because everyone wanted to buy them and I hate saying no.

He sure has big leg pants! A Country Cupboard pattern made with old cutter quilt and he has denim pants, rick rack on his boots.

Stand up straight girls...

These little girls are about eight inches tall. I make them from a pattern by Becki Ariura, www.alleycattales.com.

If you like cats and quilts and fun wall hangings you will like her website, and she is the nicest person. I have used her patterns for a long time, they are sold in most quilt shops.

My new cat with body from a garage sale bag. I saw some of these bags for sale in a pricey gift shop. Maybe they're a hot item these days .

The Christmas Mouse

I have some of these for my Lindbergh show, everyone liked them last year and I only had a few to sell. It is hard to find the zinc lids and they fit so perfectly in them. My friend Barb found some for me, she is the resale shop guru in our group.

not in MY yard

I know what's on her mind, she thinking she will chuck the broom and the apple and take the little red car behind her for a ride---or the motorhome maybe......

My little neighborhood is really into yard decorations for Halloween. I am the only Scrooge around here, not a thing in my yard except leaves.

The two that aren't facing the camera are even scarier. I really like their chairs and their glasses.

Now for more to my taste, go to www.cherishedvintage.blogspot.com and look at her swarm of bats across her front door. Really neat, and she has a link to the Country Living bat swarm. Maybe I will just get a pumpkin and make Walker (my black cat) sit on the porch, and be my decorations.

My tree 2009

I always try to make a little tree and this is my effort this year. Anyone could do it, it's just a peat pot with some cypress moss and a warm and natural bow. Sew a tree and star and use your paints to make the lights, antique and add some dragon vine. I used a stick for the base and glued it in. I could have made it in a lot less time but sometimes the smallest of things take a lot of "tweaking".

You can write your own tag. Mine says: Lord make me like a little tree, reaching up to grow for Thee; Shining brightly through the dark, keeping Jesus in my heart.

Sew What, a Quilt Shop in Wyandotte, Michigan

This is a beautiful store, even for those of us who don't quilt. This is where I buy those wonderful Hillcreek hand-dyed buttons that I use for my "Annie" eyes.

Old Quilts Go to Heaven and are Worn by the Angels

This is the lining and the reverse side of the Log Cabin scrap I have been using. I made the little ugly angels out of the reverse side.

And this is the top side which is mostly threadbare, but still the colors shine. You should always make a note of where you get pieces. I 'm sure this was one given to me by a good friend. There are not too many available to buy these days..

Well he isn't an angel but he will have to do for today. Kynda will love his stick grapevine arms and legs.

The Farmville Wedding

By my very creative daughter, PJ, a wedding in Farmville. Be sure to notice the floral archways that are set up for the wedding, the bride is lovely and the groom so handsome. All this and a tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness .

Angels today

In their own way, I think they are beautiful. I used the DeLite-ful clay from Michaels for their heads and some backs of old quilt squares and some old music which I can't play anymore for their wings.

The sun is out today, finally, and my friends Barb and Kathy went to the Handcrafters Show in Northville. It is back at their old location downtown and they thought it was very, very nice. Happy Saturday.

Iris Folding

This is Barb's new craft which everyone thought beautiful and interesting. My picture isn't great, but it is tiny little folds of paper making up the pictures. We were so happy that she got such a good response from everyone!

Miz Lizzie

Made her from a pattern by Moonchilds Primitives with a few changes in the clothes.
Added the punkin stuff and changed the hat and gave her a sign to put up. This little hat is really easy, just fold a rectangle, sew down the back and add some ribbon, usually I don't even hem as I like the raw edges.

Moonchilds Primitives is located in Paducah, Ky. (my home town). Her website is filled with the most creative things.

Storybook Quilts

The Quilt Show at Dearborn First United Methodist Church

Quilts were displayed on all three sections of the sanctuary, atop the organ, the pulpit and in an adjoining parlor. Antique quilts, newly made quilts and many theme quilts.
Everyone was given a directory telling about each of these quilts. So much work went into this event.
Some nice piano music too.
A neat door prize.....

I think they did a great job this year.

Show Saturday

Look in the mirror....and you might see.....someone who
looks....a bit like me....Wicked ? a little.....but only in part...
we may ride a broom.....but we have a good heart......



The nicest thing about the shows that you do each year is that you
get to see those who have become familiar faces over the years.
Yesterday we had such a nice day and lunch, I wish you all could
have been there. Tomorrow I will have pictures of the quilts.
I hope you have something nice to do this first Saturday of October.

Frivolosity

My broom is old and dusty....I seldom fly, oh well....
My greenish cast has faded...I never cast a spell.

The slimy-toads adore me, they know I'm not a threat...
I'd rather nap or crochet, so no one needs to fret....

My days of making potions, are over---dead and gone....
No one seems to trust me, afraid I'll get it wrong.

My cauldron is on ebay, my groove is lost they say...
How can she be so happy, this witch who lost her way?

My wicked friends forsake me, but that's just fine, you see....
It's time to read a romance, and have a cup of tea...hee....hee.....

If you are local, we hope to see you at the Dearborn First Methodist Church Quilt Show, Friday (tomorrow) and also Saturday 10-4, Mason and Garrison just a block off of Michigan Avenue. There will be a salad luncheon both days. Yummm !

Look for us in the basement where the crafters set up. The sanctuary will be filled with gorgeous works of art (quilts) old and new. Also a bake sale and silent auction. A fun day. (Gibbs will be there, although I might keep him.)
