Making a "dirt bag".

 Pick up some old nylons at the thrift store....

 Tie a knot in one end

 Stuff with ever how much potting mix you want the bag to be.... tie the other end

try to have a stem on the plant ...I trimmed this one off some.  Just an inch is best.

Poke a hole in the bag with a pencil or toothpick and insert your plant and water.  You could add as many plants as you want to cover the entire bag.  Rachel at Graye's Greenhouse said to set it aside and forget it while it sets roots.  The ones we made at the class were so pretty, she had flats of tiny plants of various succulents for us to choose from.  It was a fun day.  And not rocket science.

PJ's Plant Poke

What's in the picture...PJ's darling little plant poke.  Had to show it off somehow so I covered a little can with jute and lace, made a nylon sock ball to hold the dirt for the plant (that came from my yard).
We learned how to make the nylon "dirt bags" when we went to the class at Graye's Greenhouse.

Thrift Saturday

I found this bag of odds and ends at Value World today.  It looked like a big ol' tangle of thread and unknown sewing objects.  I was so surprised when the blue shoe fell out. It is about 10 inches long and so pretty.

The bag was five dollars and now I have some knitting brochures (I don't knit), scads of embroidery thread (very seldom do that either), some snaps, elastic, hoops, patches, ribbon, a cute little box and some garters!!!!

But best of all I have a blue shoe!

Crochet

I love crochet, but can't do it.  So I connive to have others do it for me. (this may have cost me some friends).   My latest victim is Beth and she just made these little jar covers for me.

Graye's Greenhouse

 We still call it Mrs. Graye's and probably always will, but this beautiful place is now under new ownership. 

Sad, that the family will no longer be there when we visit, but happy that the new owner will be continuing to operate this fantastic place.

 The day we visited, an estate sale was being held and this was my favorite thing to take home.
I also got some lovely vintage crochet and sheet music and old photographs.

This little worn book was in with some other items.  I love it, it is the words of Jesus, the four gospels and was owned by Margaret Plumsteel. It has notations in the front and back of it.  I can imagine how much she treasured it.

I have often written about Graye's Greenhouse on Joy Road, if you love succulents, it is the place to go. We are so happy, it is going to continue and grow.

It is very cold here in Michigan.  I hope you are warm.
