Quilt Show Today

Maxwell enjoys his flower quilt.

A book which was picked for me by my nice librarian. The story of Joanna, just prior to the Civil War, who was recaptured on her way North to freedom, and her quilt that mapped that journey. A good book for anyone who appreciates the significance of quilts in American history, or just likes quilts.

The old quilt in the background was a rescued one, mildewed and ratty, from a sale in Waltz, Mi. Altho the flowers are worn away (and the baskets) you can still see the lovely design outline and the beautiful feather stitching is still perfect. I thought it deserved a life, so here it is and it smiles for me.

The quilt is lovely!! And the book looks like something I would really enjoy reading. I wish I had a library to go to! It's kind of a shame that we don't.
Have a great day!!
