Fried Pies...

I'm sure Emma and Altie (my mother and grandmother) have had a big laugh this morning, seeing me try to make their famous fried pies. Dorothy Roseberry was no slouch at making them either....

You have to have some canned biscuits, just the regular kind, and roll them out thin and some fruit filling, I used the cans. I'm sure Mammy sniffed that I didn't use dried fruit, cooked ahead.......
Then you just fry them in some good oil, I'm sure they probably used bacon fat. Turn them over and drain them really well. They are smaller than they look in the picture.

I have apple, peach and cherry, about 40 (well they had to be tested) to take to our monthly dinner at Blessed Hope Church. This is down-home fare for sure. Hope they will like.

Peggy, those fried pies look so good, now I want one. My husbands grandmother use to make them, she has been gone for about a year now, miss her fried pies. I have never fried them, my recipe calls for baking. Don't make them much, I end up eating them all. Vicky

I made that variety of fried pies last summer when we were camping. Everyone loved them. I burnt my fingers good though laying them in the oil. I forgot how hot hot oil can be. Gotta be careful about that part of it. I'm sure those folks at your church will love them. What a sweetie you are for making all those for them. I love the apple but do like the others too. What a treat!

The fried pies look DELICIOUS!!! How I wish I had one right now! I shall have to get some biscuits and make some. All four of my grandchildren will be here Sunday afternoon. Guess what I am planning to make with them? YOUR fried pies!! Thanks for sharing this!

Peggy, I love fried pies. My faves are apple and peach. I’ve never tried to make my own but you make this sound really easy--so I may give it a go. My husband would be so happy :)
