What I like about the Derby.

Beautiful girls in their finery!  My pick for first prize, Betsy.

Hats, very special creations for the day, like this one by Betsy.  Also my pick for first prize.

Parties, like this one at Town Peddler Craft and Antique Mall....
Music, the marching band playing My Old Kentucky Home......

And the beautiful horses ....this one must be telling us what he thinks of the harsh winter he just experienced.

I'm not a fan of horse racing, so I don't pick a favorite.  I am just mindful of the safety of the horses and their riders.  I was born and raised in Kentucky but never attended the derby nor had a mint julep or burgoo.  I am thinking it is a beautiful day weatherwise in Kentucky to enjoy this tradition.  Happy day to all.

Betsy definitely takes the prize. Beautiful.

I'm home from Kentucky now. It's a wonderful place to visit, but there's no place like home. :)

What a cutie wearing that hat today. Glad you all are doing a little celebration. I've never been to the derby or had a mint julep either.

Traditions are fun! When I camped in Kentucky a few years ago we were able to visit some beautiful horses which I am not familiar with. I don't like the racing either but the animals are breathtaking! ~*~Lisa

What a fun Derby post and Betsy is the star of the day. I've been to Churchill Downs, but not to the Derby. I'm a television Derby fan.

Love the hats! Bob and I went to a derby party and the ladies wore hats too. I had a red one with pink flowers. We had a great time! Janice
