Check out a Book

I'm thinking I will go to the library before another round of snow, just because they have been closed and I miss going there.  This was a post on Pinterest (in Massachusetts) .
I read a lot of books around Christmas, this was a really good one.  A widow living in Paris fights back against losing her house to the modernization  of the boulevards.  I especially loved the ending.

This one is a memoir but reads like a novel.  It is interesting and I stayed up half the night to finish it.  Justice was not served in his brother's case but lots of pay-backs and some famous names.

I'm going to brave the cold and get some groceries and maybe even a book, even though I have lots to read on my new Kindle.  Problem is, there are so many that look good, I don't know where to start.  I am reading A Place at the Table now.  Everyone stay warm.

My calendar

I was thinking about my garden this morning while Johnny and John Michael shoveled my snow,  just looking out at my little plot, all covered with snow, and I wonder how my strawberry plants must feel.

This is my 2014 calendar that Barb got for me.  I hope you will not think it toooooo risque.  I think the Garden City Garden club had a wonderful idea for a fund raiser.  Please get out your sense of humor as the months progress,  but be assured they are all in very good taste, even the men. (No, you have to wait, ladies.)

We have about 8 inches of snow...how about you?

Red Eye Gravy

You have to start with a slice of country ham ..
You have to have some biscuits to pour it over...
You have to ignore the keep-out sign on the frig...

This is a Kentucky New Year's day breakfast...black-eyed peas should be for dinner.

Rebecca and Tom and Charlie and Keegan are at the Winter Classic Redwing
Toronto game...OUTDOORS at the Big House in Ann Arbor.  The snow is blowing and the temp is  in the teens. I don't see a single empty seat.

Be warm and happy.

Saturday Santa...

Earlier this week Tonya Turvold sent out an email and it  reminded me that I always liked to make her Santa pattern called "Olde Saint Nick".  You can check out "Back Porch Pickins" for her other designs and she also sells finished products.

Don't be afraid of the eyelids, they are much easier to do than looks like. ( Jordan says Santa Claus doesn't wear blue eyeshadow.)

I am thinking of my Kentucky friends and family  this morning, it looks like they have had some awfully bad weather.  Stay safe and warm.
