Needlework Rescue....

"Did I do good?" she asked. Did she ever..aren't these beautiful.....
This one even has tatting on the edges in verigated colors.....tatting is a rare find.
And this one knew I had a new table that would need this. Barb keeps us all in mind when she shops, we are lucky to have her. She has a great eye for just the right thing.

Looks like rain this morning in Michigan. We had a big frost this week but now rain and warmer temps. Time to finish up outside. Happy Saturday.

Old Embroidery

I really am still around and working but many things are left undone in the good old summertime. I look for ways to recycle and appreciate old needlework and these little angels designed by Pat Beam seem to like dressing in vintage. The embroidery thread hair is my own idea, I hope they like that too.

My neighbors are having a garage sale this morning and it is calling to me. Then I'm off to doggie sitting with Rosie and Joy. I hope to catch up with everyone next week. Please have a blessed and happy weekend.

Vintage state of mind....

I get really inspired by stuff like this.......
look at this amazing little metallic thread shoe. I'm not sure if it is finished, but we are keeping it forever....
and I finished up another Angie with a little of my own vintage sewing treasures. Hope someone will like her.

The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day, a perfect Friday in Michigan. Hope yours is also.

Consider the work of her hand......

These are some pictures from PJ's estate sale finds. From someone who loved to do needlework. We will certainly treasure the work of her hand.
Embroidery, crochet and tatting (at the center, the hanky with the lavender trim). Look at the pineapple pattern crochet pieces, ready to trim a pillowcase. And this is only a small sample.
And even the tins are keepers! I would have loved to know what else she made as there were also yards and yards of fabric.

Have a nice day everyone, see you tomorrow.

Wrought by G. E. Clark (that's my friend, Garnet)

Of course, this would be my favorite.

This one too, with the flowers....

wrought by g. e. clark, she is a master of needlework.

I missed everyone yesterday but this will be a good day to read blogs. And I did enjoy my road trip to Port Huron. We went to Sew Elegant, Mary Maxims and I got to visit with my friend, Garnet. Barb is so nice to drop me off for a visit with her. I love seeing her and her beautiful needlework and catching up with her wonderful family.

And yeah, we went to Cracker Barrel. Happy Thursday everyone.

A Tattered Quilt

I have saved these pieces for so long I don't remember who gave me these. These two pieces are tattered but have beautiful embroidery and silk pieces. The one has the names Flossie, Vic, and Rosa. The other one has the names Emma and Fannie, and those are my mother's name and my mother-in-law's name, so I will have to do something special with them.
I used one small piece for this heart, you can see my humble endeavor at embroidery on the sleeve.
Then I patched a few more pieces together for her wing. Also used some really nice crochet for her collar and trim. My favorite thing to do is to give new life to something that is not being used.

I wondered if Vic and Flossie were an item.
