An old hymn by Nina Simone, from the movie Bella. I found the movie at the library this week and I had wanted to see it when it won the Sundance award and was acclaimed by many critics, but we don't get those movies in our area.
I looked up Nina Simone, she died in France in 2003, she was born in 1933.
...pictures of children and things I make for those of us who never grow up, and plants I grow in my little garden......

Looking for a garage sale
These are some pretty dogs we saw in the Pet Store Parking lot while we were out looking for a garage sale (or trying to get a table at Kate's Kitchen for breakfast).
One said "Did you get any bargains?" The other one said "Me neither but Kate's Kitchen sounds like a good idea."
We knew they were smart, they were driving a Ford.
And we never could get in to eat at Kate's so we settled for Mary Anne's in New Boston. Happy Saturday.

New on Thursday
I always find flaws when I look at the pictures, but I seldom change anything.
I started this one with a pattern by Off-The-Beam, but she turned out differently. Look at her nice trim that I got from my friend Joanne.
I made three of these and each one has a look in their eye. I hope these things don't start speaking to me, I will really be in trouble. Happy Thursday.

More about Okra
First of all, we pronounce it "oh-kree" but if you say it like that people look at you funny, which I get a lot of.
This is my favorite way to cook it, cut it in chunks and coat with cornmeal and fry in Crisco. Cracker Barrel has their way and I have mine...
This is the way my grandmother and mother cooked it, just boil it a little with some bacon grease, small amount. Some people say it is slimy..I don't know what they mean by that.

Angie
I keep changing everything about Angie, including my posts. So while I was shortening her skirt, she said, you know I'm supposed to have wings. So here she is, made from a design from www.chestnutjunction.com. Their patterns are unique, imaginative, and reasonably priced. I hope your day has been good.

Henryi
I love clematis, so hope yall don't get bored with them. This one is Henryi, and stays a nice size, took a few years to get this big as it was just a sprig when I bought it. The old plow belonged to Mammy and Papa (my grandparents). It worked many years before it was replaced by a big old tiller, but it was kept and I am glad. It will be appreciated for its new job, holding up the Henryi.

Frosty Morning
Wouldn't you know! When I walked out to the garden with my coffee, there was frost on the tomatoes. This one I planted for my neighbor on the fenceline, it's a Smarty and I hope it does well so she can take tomatoes to her church friends. I ordered the seed from Johnny's, $6.75 for 20 seeds, it may be called that because it was smart enough to get me to part with that much of my seed money. Happy Monday, warming up.

Mystery Tree
This is a tree that was growing in my small yard. We transplanted it to PJ's yard and here it blooms so nicely. In the meantime, back at the ranch, another tree has sprouted in my yard in the very same place and is now about eight feet tall. It does not bloom for me, but says ha, ha, you can't get rid of me.
